Just a few weeks into the Fraternal year and Council 14360 hasn’t missed a beat. On Saturday, July 19th, St. Matthew Council 14360 was out in full force with what has become second nature to them: a 3-event day. The Brothers began their day at 8:00 a.m. doing yard work for a homebound St. Matthew Parishioner in need f some yard work (clearing shrubbery, clearing away brush and “cleaning” up some overgrown trees). A great effort that morning, but it was just the beginning, because as soon as the afternoon arrived, a group of Knights headed over to O’Neill’s Pub in Norwalk to support Council 41 Brother and St. Matthew Parishioner Jimmy Booth for his annual run in the pub.
This year’s run had some extra significance for the council as a portion of the proceeds of the event were to be donated to “Joe Mazzo’s Time to Fight” as Joe is currently undergoing treatments for an aggressive form of Brain Cancer. Joe is the son of Brother Scott Mazzo, a longtime contributor to Council 14360. In addition, Jimmy’s Run also benefitted the Norwalk Open Door Shelter. As of press time, $2000.00 had been raised from Jimmy’s efforts that day.
The Council’s day ended with some entertainment at the Parish itself featuring a concert by local band Old School. The Knights once again lent a hand in the clean-up efforts after the concert ended that evening. Another great day for the Council—having the honor of serving those in need. And it is only the beginning!
